1. Agreement

By using Coop & Clutch at coopandclutch.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. Coop & Clutch is published by Slate Mill Group, and “we” and “us” below mean that publisher.

2. What the information here is

General information about backyard chicken housing, for your own research. It is not professional, veterinary, construction, electrical or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for any of them.

Our capacity figures are arithmetic performed on dimensions published by manufacturers, using published extension-service guidance, by the method set out on the methodology page. They are as good as the published dimensions they rest on. Manufacturers revise specifications, listings contain errors, and a figure that was accurate when recorded can stop being accurate. Verify measurements against the seller’s current listing before you buy, and tell us if you find a discrepancy.

3. Animal welfare and safety

You are responsible for the welfare of animals in your care. Nothing on this site overrides veterinary advice, and we do not cover feed, breeds, hatching or health.

Some content describes practical work - fitting mesh, mounting hardware, siting equipment, and in places electrical items such as heaters and fans. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for anything you install, comply with local electrical and building codes, and use a qualified electrician where one is required. Our general descriptions are not installation instructions for any specific product.

4. Local rules are yours to check

Keeping poultry is regulated locally, and rules vary by city, county and homeowners association. Our page about permits and zoning explains what to ask and cannot tell you the answer for your address. Confirming what applies to you is your responsibility.

5. Affiliate links

This site contains affiliate links and earns commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you, as set out on the affiliate disclosure page. We link to retailers, manufacturers and extension services. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. Their terms and privacy policies apply once you leave here.

8. Intellectual property

The text, structure, calculations and original graphics on this site belong to us. You may quote a short passage with attribution and a link. Republishing pages or substantial extracts, or using them to train a model that reproduces them, is not permitted without our written permission. Product names, images and trademarks belong to their respective owners, and product photography is served from the retailer.

9. No warranty

This site is provided on an “as is” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability. We work hard to be accurate and we do not warrant that we are.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages arising from your use of this site or from any purchase, construction or husbandry decision you make based on it. That includes loss of or harm to animals, property damage and financial loss. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case they apply to you only to the extent permitted.

We may update these terms, and the effective date above will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.
